Today is the 9th December. Making some extra money is always possible, but this is probably not the time to start learning how to sell stuff on ebay, or registering to complete online surveys if you have never done it before.
In order to get cash in time to actually use it for Christmas presents, or have folding money in your pocket for the pub on Christmas Eve you’re going to have to face the fact that getting paid on the internet takes time.
If you don’t already have a paypal account it could easily take you until Christmas to get it setup and verified, let alone start receiving money. Even if you have a paypal account, getting the money from there to your bank account takes “2-3 business days” which would be cutting it fine.
Of course, if you’re going to buy your Christmas presents online using your paypal account anyway, selling some unwanted gifts on ebay could actually be a bit of a goldmine, after all it’s a sellers market at this time of year.
There are a couple of things you may have lying about the house at the moment that you can sell before Christmas and have the money in your bank account in time for it to make a difference.
I am of course talking about selling gold jewellery and/or any unwanted mobile phones you have hanging about. There are enough adverts on the television for both these products at the moment to drive you to distraction. Who knew the irritating Christmas adverts would be a welcome relief!
The truth is though, if you have got old mobiles or jewellery that you would consider selling at some point, now might well be the time to do so.
Sell Your Gold
Gold prices have never been so high and there’s never been so much competition for your old jewellery. This all adds up to you getting the best prices available. Obviously it pays to do some research and if you want to get paid in time for Christmas it’s worth also checking to see if:
They will make direct payment into your bank account.
They accept self-packaged items (so you don’t have to wait for a ‘gold pack’ to arrive – Obviously you’ll still want to be sure to package your items securely and ensure they are adequately insured).
Sell Your Phone
The good thing about selling your old phone is not only can you be sure that there is a demand for what you’re selling, but also you can get a pretty good idea from one of the numerous sites out there that buy phones on the amount of money you can expect to receive.
Selling your phone before Christmas could not only net you some cash quickly, it could be the most you’ll ever get for your old mobile. It stands to reason that a phone that may be worth £150 on the second hand market now is realistically only going to devalue with every new range of phones that are released – also with the number of phones that are given as gifts at Christmas there will undoubtedly be a glut of unwanted phones available after Christmas which could easily affect the prices.
