Sell My Mobile Phone

If you have a new phone, or you’re just looking to clear some space in the drawers or rustle up a bit of extra cash, you might be surprised at how much your old phone could fetch.

There are a lot of online companies at the moment fighting for your business so the prices can be pretty reasonable.

The big advantage that selling your phone has over selling gold jewellery or something is that you can be fairly sure how much money you’ll get before you send it off. On most of the big sites you can just enter the make and model of your phone and they’ll tell you what they’ll give you; assuming the phone is in decent working order, not too scruffy looking, and has the original battery and can be switched on. It is not imperative to return the charger.

Although it is tempting just to visit a comparison site, remember all these comparison sites for loans, insurance, and even phones get a commission for passing on your business so it’s always worth checking the sites individually to make sure you’re getting the best deal.

Once you have filled in the online questionnaire asking for make, model etc you will be offered a price.

Before you decide whether or not to proceed, it’s worth doing a quick search on ebay for the make and model of your phone. Check out the auctions that are nearly finished and the reserve prices. You may find that for some strange reason your old phone is particularly sought after. If it’s worth significantly more on ebay it may be worth the hassle of selling it yourself.

If you decide to proceed with one of the phone buying sites a jiffy bag is sent to you – You are advised to return your phone by recorded delivery as the responsibility lies with you to get it safely to them.

Charge up the phone, switch it off, do not include the Sim or memory card and remove any security or pin codes. Go to ‘reset factory settings’ on your phone’s menu to do this. Don’t leave any private data on your phone! Once it has been checked out you will be offered a price which is up to you to accept or decline.
